Year Two!
So 2017 and on to my second year hosting the DGR. In the weeks before the ride I had made sure that I had attended every Thursday night bike night at Smash Palace and quite deliberately went from table to table handing out flyers and urging people to register.
With two day to go until the ride we were sat on just over 100 registered riders, which I was reasonably pleased with. On the Saturday evening I had a quick check of the DGR website and was quite shocked to see the number had now jumped to over 150 riders!
Not only did we have a great turnout but the weather was fantastic with clear blue skies.
As per the previous year we officially finished the ride down by the beach at Sumner. I have to say I got this a little wrong, as trying to get 150 riders into Sumner on a day when just about everybody in Christchurch had decided to go to the beach was a bit of a mission to say the least!
